Marina News February 2010

Freezing Weather Lately we have had some freezing temperatures. When we have a hard freeze at night we turn the water off on the docks to prevent pipes from breaking. If we have two or more days in a row that will have lows in the 20’s we will leave the water off during the day. When we turn off the water we must bleed the lines to be sure any leftover water doesn’t freeze and cause a break.

Your boats are subject to freezing and water line breaking as well. Be sure to leave a light on in the bilge or turn your heat on in the boat. If you have a block heater now is the time to use it. Water in your engines cooling system can freeze and cause some very expensive damage. As always, if you have any questions or need some assistance don’t hesitate to call us. We are here to help.

Our New Pump Out Boat - Our new pump out boat will be completed and delivered this month. It is a bigger boat with a larger holding capacity. We will continue to offer free pump out’s to all of our customers. We are looking forward to taking possession of the boat and pumping out some holding tanks.

Island Cove Marina Even though we had shut off the water at Island Cove during our last record breaking cold snap we did have several broken water pipes on the docks. We fixed them quickly and life and temperatures are back to normal. We still have a lot of dock boards to replace and some frozen plants to trim back for the spring season. We will be working on those things this month.

Bayou News During the cold spell Bayou Chico actually froze from one side to the other and even though the ice was thin it was thick enough for seagulls to walk on. I haven’t found anyone who can remember it freezing all the way across the bayou in the past. Rumor has it that the Runyan Ship Yard property on the Bayou has changed hands again. It seems the new owners want to develop the property but exactly how and when is still only speculation and rumor.

2010 rates will not change - Island Cove, Palm Harbor, and Yacht Harbor rates will not increase.

8th annual customer appreciation party 2009

photos

This year over 250 people attended from our family of Marinas, Island Cove, Palm Harbor, and Yacht Harbor. The Tug Boat Willy band turned out again this year but without Tug Boat Willey (again). Willey couldn't make it but his band still rocked the place. Everybody had a great time listening to the blues and dancing to the rock. Thanks to all that brought a side dish. We look forward to next years party.
